El Matador is a place I have eaten at many times years ago when I lived in Columbus. It is absolutely NOT authentic Mexican food, so don't expect that. I like to call it Mexican food for White people. But anyways, since it's not authentic, they do kind of have their own flavor profile going on in their offerings. One that many locals swear by. My favorite item on the menu is the Chimichanga meal which comes with beans and rice on the side. This thing is massive and you'll for sure get stuffed. Hadn't been to Columbus for over 9 years, happened to be there this last weekend and it happened to be my 50th birthday, so for my birthday, I just had to have my favorite dish from El Matador. Tasted exactly the way I remembered them from over 9 years ago. Delish!! Then, to top it off, they even brought me out a free Fried Ice Cream that I shared with the wife and kids (I'm diabetic). Don't know when I'll ever be returning to Columbus, if at all, but if I do, I'll most certainly be looking up El Matador for my Chimichanga fix.
An extensive menu and consistently good food. They only had one server, but she hustled and we never had to wait too long for service. They have a salsa station with 2 or 3 kinds of salsa that is included in some meals, or it can be purchased separately; all the chips you can eat with delicious salsa. Atmosphere is pleasant, but low- key. Locally owned. I recommend El Matador without hesitation.
Clean, friendly, fast service. I had the enchiladas dinner. It was tasty, not your usual mexican food. I loved the smokiness on the finish of the refried beans. Good portions and value. I will stop and have dinner again. As far as fajitas? I use all of those toppings. What a pointed review that was in my opinion.
Passing through town. Pick this place on a Sunday. Service was very fast. Food was tasty. Portions were large. Would definitely recommend
The food is delicious here it's just got a special taste like nothing else and very reasonably priced..... we try to stop every time we're in the area!! Nothing fancy but really good!!
This is not authentic Mexican food, so if you’re looking for that, you’ll be disappointed. I got a combo plate. No rice or beans came with it or chips. The hard shell taco was great and so was the other item (sancho?), but the burrito was meh at best. It was super dry. I also got a couple of enchiladas to go. Those were pretty good but not great. Service was fast and friendly, portions large.
